This is a finely-printed and scholarly history of one of the most famous English cathedrals .
It is in two volumes which are bound as one and with continuous pagination. The text runs to 292 pages plus 70 pages of appendix and index.
There are 46 copper-engraved plates, some double-page, and two head-pieces and the book is finely bound in modern full brown calf with a red lettering label.
The front fly-leaf carries an old inscription reading: 'Bibliotheca Sunderlandiana or Blenheim Library' Books from the library were sold in the 1880s
A handsome copy in crisp, clean condition.
